- Foldit http://fold.it/portal/ - a biological puzzle game with actual scientific discoery as the ultimate goal.
- Plants v zombies http://www.popcap.com/games/pvz - a game where zombies can be killed off with a variety of toxic plants planted strategically!.
- The Cost of Life http://thecostoflife.org/- sort of an ecological variant on Civilisation I think.
- Super Energy Apocalypse http://www.fadupinator.com/about_sea.html -pollution game (where you have to play polluter).

I see you are now thinking also of "Chore Wars":http://www.chorewars.com/ - "finally, you can claim experience points for housework"! I would think it a large challenge to have *that* game meet our assignment criteria! But I would be very interested to read such work! I would think Foldit or Cost of Life might lend themselves more *easily* to what we expect but am happy to discuss this more with you. Of course Super Energy with it's potential "life lessons" could be an excellent discussion starter if embedded correctly in a learning activity. One might argue that the discussion that would lead from the engagement with the game might be even more important than the gaming activity itself - which would be an interesting argument to make I think. The idea that game would be played as a discussion starter rather than the game itself standalone. . . . .
Interesting ideas here Nicola - and with 10 days to go (!!) I would start paring down this list with reference to the marking criters, personal interest, professional interest and further discussion with myself if needed.
Hope this helps,
Fiona
